Education is one of the most important gifts we can give our young people. Tuatapere Community College is committed to providing a quality education for all students.
A vision for Tuatapere Community College is for it to be an exciting place where learning is a priority for all – students, staff and the community – a place where everyone is motivated to learn and learning is enjoyed. Our aim is to produce independent, co-operative, confident citizens able to succeed in any environment that they may find themselves in. We must be able to measure student success and report this to students, parents/caregivers and future employers.
We work hard to identify the needs of all our students and to work together, with students and their families, to over come barriers to learning that may exist. We value the partnerships between the school and parents – communication and mutual support always in the best interests of our students.
Our programmes aim to foster and nurture the all-round development of our students – their intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth. Small class sizes throughout the school enable teachers to spend more individual time with students and we are proud of our students’ achievements in sport, music, drama as well as in academic areas.

A special feature of our school is its family atmosphere. We are proud to be an Area School, having students from Year 1 to Year 13 which strengthens our “family feeling” within our college. It also allows us to work towards a seamless education with continuity and sharing of knowledge about the development of our students. We provide supportive and professional pastoral care for all our students from Year 1 to Year 13.
A strong network of class teachers, form teachers, Heads, Guidance counsellor and Careers Advisor encourages all students to reach their full potential in a warm and caring environment which is student centered and where every student is regarded as important.
In the new millennium we are well positioned to take advantage of the new technologies that are becoming increasingly important to access knowledge. It is vital that students know how to access information, and acquire independent learning skills. Our college is networked and all students have computer and internet access. The internet is also being used to put students “online” with other schools and institutes. Teachers are continuously undergoing extensive training in using new technologies to enhance learning.
We invite you join our college. Should you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me at our college. We welcome your interest and are happy to arrange a tour of our college for you.
You can also have an e-preview of the College by looking through our website and seeing what we have to offer.
